Career

Caroline trained and worked at a leading specialist Tier 1 Family firm in London from 2010 to 2021. She qualified as a solicitor in 2012 and into the firm’s award-winning international children department headed by the late Anne-Marie Hutchinson OBE, QC (Hon). Caroline specialised in proceedings relating to the international movement of children, wardship, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, stranded spouses, together with private children and public law. Her commitment was exemplified in her representing parents, children, victims of domestic and honour based violence, and vulnerable adults. She also advised in divorce and applications for financial remedy. Caroline has acted for high net worth individuals and the publicly funded alike, and conducted advocacy in cases before the Family Court and the High Court.

Of note, Caroline acted for a mother in child abduction proceedings following Russia’s ratification of the 1996 Hague Convention on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Cooperation in respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children, in an application made in the Russian court for the children’s return – the first case to make use of the 1996 Hague Convention for child abduction in England as well as in Russia.

Caroline undertook a secondment in 2018 at The Permanent Bureau of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH), through its Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) in Hong Kong SAR, China.
